Finally, a roadmap built for your child’s nervous system

You’re not failing. You’re parenting a dysregulated nervous system without a roadmap.

Reward charts, consequence systems, and “if you just try harder” approaches weren’t built for a dysregulated nervous system. SIGNAL Parenting™ is.

Most parents of neurodivergent kids have tried everything.

The behavior charts. The consequences. The therapies. The books. And still… the meltdowns, the shutdowns, the mornings that make you dread the whole day before it starts.

Not because you’re doing it wrong. Because none of those tools were built for how your child’s nervous system actually works.

If the world feels heavier than usual, you’re not imagining it. Collective stress lands hardest on kids whose nervous systems were already working overtime. And it lands hard on the parents trying to hold everything together for them.

SIGNAL Parenting™ doesn’t add to your load. It gives you a way to navigate the load you already have with more steadiness, more clarity, and less of the reactive spiral that drains everyone.

Does any of this sound familiar?

I Googled “why does my kid lose it over everything” at 11pm. Again. I’ve been Googling it for three years. Maybe it’s time to do something different.

My child’s therapist told me he was a pleasure in session. He came home and screamed for 45 minutes because his sock felt wrong. I’m starting to think we’re not working on the same problem.

I have read 7 books, listened to 4 podcasts, and attended 2 summits. I understand dysregulation beautifully. I am also still yelling by 8am. Turns out knowing and doing are different skills.

My kid looked at me last week and said, “You never understand me.” I didn’t argue. That one sat with me for days. I think it’s time to actually do something about that.

We’re not in “crisis.” We’re just in this permanent low-grade grind where nothing is terrible and nothing is okay and everyone is just… tired. I used to think we’d grow out of it. I don’t think that anymore.

If you’re nodding, you’re in the right place.

If you’ve tried everything and nothing stuck,  there’s a reason.

Your child’s nervous system senses a threat.

It doesn’t have to be a real danger. A tone of voice. An unexpected change. A demand that feels too big. The bodyguard inside your child is always scanning, and when it senses anything that feels unsafe, it responds in a millisecond.

The survival brain takes over.

Fight. Flight. Freeze. This is biological, not intentional. Your child isn’t choosing to be difficult, their body has shifted into protection mode automatically, before any thinking can happen.

The thinking brain goes offline. No strategy works, because no strategy can reach an offline brain.

Logic. Reason. Self-control. Empathy. Executive function. All of it dims or disappears entirely. The part of the brain that responds to rewards, consequences, and instructions? Unreachable.

This is why the charts didn’t stick. Why consequences didn’t change anything. Why your bright, capable child can seem to completely forget every skill they have. It’s not defiance. It’s biology.

The goal isn’t “try harder.” It’s restore safety and let the brain come back online.

Reward charts. Token economies. Point systems. Sticker boards. Logical consequences. Behavior contracts. If you’ve tried any of these tools and they haven’t created lasting change, that’s not a reflection of you or your child. Those tools were built on Behaviorism: the idea that you can train compliance through reward and punishment. They weren’t designed for a nervous system already in survival mode.

SIGNAL Parenting™ is built on the opposite approach. Nervous-system-first. Connection-first. Humanity-first. Not because it’s softer but because it’s what actually works with how brains and bodies function.

This isn’t a parenting failure. It’s a biology mismatch.

Hello!

I’m Penny.

When my son was young, the hardest moments were the ones mid-meltdown: standing there watching him completely fall apart and doing the only thing I knew to do: talk him out of it. Explain. Reason. Use logic to bring him back.

It never worked. And I couldn’t understand why.

I read all the books. Tried everything the experts suggested. Some things worked for two weeks. Then we were right back where we started.

Those moments were the hardest parenting I’ve ever done. Standing in the middle of it, trying everything, reaching him with nothing.

I remember standing in a store, watching my son go from fine to completely falling apart over something that seemed so small to me. I had no idea how to reach him. Not through logic. Not through consequences. Not through anything I’d been taught to try.

Everything shifted when I stopped trying to control the behavior and started understanding what was driving it.

The nervous system. The bodyguard inside all of us that scans for threat before logic can get involved. Once I understood that my son’s behavior wasn’t defiance but a dysregulated nervous system trying to survive, I stopped taking it so personally, which meant I could finally help him.

I spent years going deep on the neuroscience. I interviewed over 400 researchers, therapists, and educators on the Beautifully Complex podcast. I wrote about it. I shared it with the 20,000 parents in my community who were asking the same questions I’d been asking.

And eventually, I built SIGNAL Parenting™ — the framework I wish had existed when my son was young. Not another behavior system. A complete nervous-system-first roadmap that helps you understand what’s happening, why it’s happening, and what to actually do, and in a way that works with your child’s biology instead of against it.

I know what it’s like to spend money on programs that don’t deliver. That’s why I built this the way I did, and why I work directly with every family.

“I feel like you’re communicating to me as a human.”

“I love love love the entire approach — describing everything so fully, from neurology to practical suggestions, and with so much humanity. I feel like you’re communicating to me as a human, Penny. It’s warm and real.”

— J.F., Unlocking Regulation attendee

This is how parents describe learning with Penny, whether in a free summit, coaching, or in the full program.

The SIGNAL Framework™
A clear roadmap for what to do, no matter what’s happening.
Each step follows the way the nervous system naturally moves from stress to safety. This isn’t a checklist to run through mid-meltdown; it’s a lens that, once you have it, changes how you see everything.

S — Spot the State
Before anything else, ask: what nervous system state are they in? This single question changes everything that comes after. You stop reacting to behavior and start reading what’s underneath it.

I — Interpret the Behavior
Behavior is a signal. Once you know the state, you can decode the message instead of reacting to the surface. You stop asking “why is my child doing this?” and start understanding it.

G — Ground Your Energy
Your nervous system sets the tone for theirs. Before you respond to your child, you check in with yourself. This is the step most programs skip entirely, and it’s why everything else starts to work.

N — Notice Needs & Emotions
What does your child actually need in this moment? What emotion is driving what you’re seeing? This is where the real signal lives and where real support becomes possible.

A — Adjust Expectations & Environment
Now that you understand what’s happening, what needs to shift? Sometimes it’s your approach. Sometimes it’s the environment. You stop forcing square pegs into round holes.

L — Lead with Connection
Regulation happens through relationship. This is always the last step and it’s what makes everything else sustainable. Connection isn’t a reward for “good” behavior, it’s the foundation that makes regulated behavior possible.

“A life-changing experience, without shame.”

“SIGNAL Parenting™ was a fantastic life-changing experience! If you want to understand your child (and yourself) and get tools to build a calmer and more nourishing day-to-day life for your family, absolutely take this course. It’s well-structured, very easy to comprehend, inspiring and without shame. It addresses the causes of behaviour and thereby helps you intervene early and gently.

But the pure gold is Penny herself. Her experienced, dedicated, calm and kind person will make you feel safe, seen, understood and supported. She will show you different perspectives, point out the patterns and guide you gently.”

Katja, SIGNAL Parenting™ Cohort 1

Notice what Katja said: “without shame” and “leaves space for our own experiences.” This program doesn’t hand you a script. It gives you a framework that works for your specific child, because every nervous system is different.

The 8-week experience
What families actually experience.

This isn’t a promise, it’s a pattern. What parents in cohort 1 described noticing, week by week.

Weeks 1–2
The lens starts to shift.

Parents begin catching body cues they’d missed before: their child’s jaw tightening, pacing, energy changing. They start noticing their own reactive patterns too: the tone of voice that escalates things, the pressure they didn’t know they were applying.

“I’m starting to actually see what’s happening instead of just reacting to it,” one mom said.

Weeks 3-4
The first real moments of doing it differently.

Not perfectly, but differently. Parents catch themselves mid-interaction and pause instead of push. They start asking “what’s making this hard?” instead of “why won’t you just…” — and feel the difference in how their child responds.

“I completely see now that my anxiety and need for control has been escalating him. I can see it. That’s new.” — Cohort 1 Parent

Weeks 5-6
Behavior starts making sense.

The behavior that used to feel like a personal attack begins to look like communication. Parents stop asking what’s wrong with their child and start asking what’s happening for their child.

After week 6, one mom wrote: “I finally understand why nothing else worked.” 🙌

Weeks 7-8
Building the roadmap. Connection deepens.

Families finish with a personalized Family Success Roadmap that maps their specific child’s nervous system patterns, triggers, needs, and what actually helps. Not a generic tool, but a map built for their family, over 8 weeks of real situations.

Let’s break it down week by week

Here’s how the program works.

Every session is recorded and posted within 24 hours. If you can’t attend live, you watch the replay and bring your work to the coaching sessions. The Thursday sessions have worked for families across North American time zones and even in Europe in our first cohort.

BONUS! Cortisol Rebalancing Reset

You cannot regulate your child’s nervous system from a depleted one. Chronic stress, the kind that comes with parenting a neurodivergent kid, affects your cortisol, your sleep, your energy, and your capacity to respond the way you want to.

This 3-week reset program from Andrea Jones, Wellness Practitioner, includes:

✔  A private client portal
✔  Simple strategies that don’t add more to your plate
✔  Optional meal plans with adrenal-nourishing foods if you want to go deeper

This program is included free for all SIGNAL Parenting™ cohort 2 families.
Here’s what changes when you make the shift:

You stop reacting and start responding.

You understand what your child’s body is telling you before behavior escalates and you know how to help.

You stop taking it personally.

When behavior stops feeling like an attack, you stop responding like it is and everything shifts.

You start to see what’s coming before it intensifies.

Your home feels different.

Hard moments get shorter.

Meltdowns and shutdowns still happen, but recovery is faster, softer, and less costly for everyone.

Your child feels safer.

When kids feel safe, they can focus, connect, and grow. Safety is the foundation for everything else.

Nervous-system-first.    Connection-first.    Humanity-first.

Is SIGNAL Parenting™ right for your family?

This program is for you if…

This probably is NOT  the right fit if…

From families who’ve worked with Penny

My commitment to you.

Show up for the first three weeks — attend or watch the replays, engage with the workbook, and bring your real situations to the co-working sessions. If by the end of week three you haven’t noticed even a small shift in how you’re seeing your child’s behavior or your own reactions, reach out. We’ll talk about what’s getting in the way.

If we can’t find a path forward together, I’ll refund your investment. No interrogation. No hoops. Three weeks is enough time to feel whether the lens is starting to work. Not to transform everything, but just to feel it starting to move. If you don’t feel that, something isn’t working, and I want to fix it.

Your Questions, Answered

Common questions parents ask about THe SIGNAL Parenting Program:

Isn't this just another behavior program?

No, and this distinction matters more than anything else on this page. Most parenting programs focus on managing or modifying behavior. SIGNAL Parenting™ focuses on understanding what’s driving it.

Behavior isn’t the problem, it’s the signal. When you address what the nervous system is communicating, behavior changes as a result. Not because you trained it to, but because the underlying need was finally met.

If you’ve tried behavior-based approaches and they didn’t stick, this is structurally why: they were working on the symptom, not the cause.

How is this different from the Survival to Success Accelerator course?

The Accelerator is a self-paced on-demand course — you move through it independently.

SIGNAL Parenting™ is a live experience: Penny works with your family directly, in real time, with real situations. The co-working sessions are where the framework becomes personal to your child. You’re not learning concepts in isolation, you’re applying them to your specific kid, with coaching, week by week.

That live container is what makes this different. It’s also why it’s limited to 25 families.

I've already tried so many things. How do I know this will be different?

That’s the most important question to ask, and you deserve a real answer.

If what you’ve tried has been behavior-based — reward systems, consequences, compliance strategies, behavior therapy — it was built on a fundamentally different model than SIGNAL Parenting™. Behaviorism assumes behavior is a choice that can be shaped through incentives.

Nervous-system-first parenting understands that dysregulated behavior isn’t a choice , but rather a biological response, and it requires a biological response in return. That’s not a small difference. It’s the structural reason those other approaches didn’t stick.

I can’t promise transformation in 8 weeks. What I can tell you is that parents in our first cohort began describing a shift in how they were seeing their kid’s behavior by week 3. Not that everything got easier immediately, but that it started making sense in a way it hadn’t before. That clarity is what changes the trajectory.

What if I can't make every session?

Every session is recorded, and replays are posted within 24 hours. The co-working sessions are also designed so you can bring your work to the community hub asynchronously — you don’t have to be live to get feedback and coaching.

Life happens. I built flexibility in from the start. The one thing I ask is that you stay engaged, even if you can’t always be live.

We just started a new therapy / medication / school program. Should I wait to see how that goes first?

SIGNAL Parenting™ doesn’t compete with therapy, medication, or school programs. It’s the framework that makes them more likely to work.

When you understand your child’s nervous system, you become a better partner to every other professional on your team. You know what to bring to therapy sessions, what to communicate to teachers, what to watch for when a new medication starts. You’re not adding one more thing. You’re building the foundation the other things are standing on.

I'm already completely maxed out. I don’t think I have the bandwidth for a program right now.

That’s one of the most common things parents say before they enroll, and one of the first things they stop saying by week three.

Here’s the honest time commitment: one 60-minute teaching session and one 60-minute co-working call per week. Replays available if you can’t make it live. No homework that lives outside the sessions.

And here’s what most parents find: the chaos that’s draining you right now is largely created by not having a framework for what’s happening. Every meltdown you manage without understanding it, every morning you survive by reacting instead of responding… that’s where your bandwidth is going. Most parents report spending less energy managing behavior by week four, not more, because they’re reacting less and understanding more.

You’re not waiting for bandwidth. You’re waiting for something that will give bandwidth back. This is that thing.

What if money is tight right now?

That’s a valid concern, and one many parents share.

Here’s the truth: you’ve probably already invested in strategies that didn’t work because they didn’t get to the root cause. This program changes that.

You’ll receive live coaching, personalized feedback, a mailed Regulation Toolkit, and a lifetime roadmap you can use long after the 8 weeks are over.

A payment plan is available: 3 monthly payments, or 4 through Afterpay or Klarna. And spaces are limited to ensure every family gets personal attention.

If your family is ready to move out of survival mode, this investment pays itself forward in peace, progress, and confidence.

What if my partner isn't on board yet?

You can still create major change on your own.
When one parent begins responding differently, the entire family system starts to shift.

If the co-parent in your home wants to join, they’re welcome at no additional cost. If not, you’ll still have the support and community you need to make real progress.

Do you offer a guarantee?

What kind of results will I see in 8 weeks?

You’ll see shifts in yourself first — calmer reactions, more clarity, fewer power struggles, and more connection. And as your regulation changes, your child’s does too.

Most families report fewer meltdowns and shutdowns, faster recovery after big emotions, and moments of connection that used to feel impossible.

By the end of the 8 weeks, you’ll have a personalized Family Success Roadmap to sustain progress long after the program ends.

Is the program right for my child's age or diagnosis?

SIGNAL Parenting™ is designed for parents of neurodivergent kids ages 5–25 with ADHD, anxiety, autism (Level 1 or 2), or similar traits. The framework supports any child whose behavior is driven by nervous-system responses, which includes all kids, especially those with emotional intensity or regulation challenges.

You’ll learn tools that can be adapted for your child’s age, development, and individual needs.

What happens after the 8 weeks?

You’ll have lifetime access to the lessons and recordings, plus your completed Family Success Roadmap.

After the live program ends, you’ll be invited to continue your growth inside The Regulated Kids Project™, where you can keep building skills for your child’s emotional awareness, resilience, and regulation.

What's the first step?

Because this is a small, high-support program, participation is by application only.

Click here to apply, and we’ll make sure it’s the right fit for your family’s goals and readiness before you commit.

You’ve read this far because something here rang true.

Maybe it’s the first time you’ve seen the behavior charts and therapies named as part of the problem, not the solution. Maybe it’s the first time someone has said “this isn’t about your child being difficult, this is about a nervous system that needs a different kind of help.”

That recognition matters. It’s where change starts.

You’ve been doing the hardest version of this job: parenting a child whose nervous system is working overtime, in a world that keeps adding to the load. You don’t have to keep guessing. You don’t have to keep reacting. There’s a framework for this, and I’d be honored to walk through it with you.

Applications are reviewed within 2 business days. Spots are limited to 25 families.

Guided Family Transformation Program

Now it’s time for the support, clarity, and roadmap that finally make it work.

That’s what SIGNAL Parenting™ is built for.
