There’s a code for this

School doesn’t have to devastate your kid and hijack your family.

The secret? It starts with the nervous system — not more effort, not more pressure. When your child’s system feels safe, the meltdowns ease, the homework fights shrink, and yes, improving grades usually follow.

It’s been over a decade since, but I still vividly remember the day my kid crumpled and tore up his math worksheet and ceremoniously walked over and dropped it in the trash as I sat, stunned by his nerve.

I was sitting with him, trying to help him through a page of long division problems, and he just couldn’t handle the frustration anymore. I didn’t know then what I know now, so I snapped at him and volleyed some big threats if he didn’t retrieve his worksheet so it could be completed.

At that point, meltdown moved into shutdown and nothing got done because… I was completely missing the role of the nervous system in learning and behavior.

Here’s why school keeps unraveling, even when your kid is trying.

School demands pile up.

Noise. Transitions. Social demand. Expectations.

Stress builds in the body.

Your child goes on high alert, even if no one else sees it.

The thinking brain dims.

Engagement drops. Flexibility shrinks. Small things feel big. Processing and memory get harder.

Learning becomes harder.

Schoolwork takes 5x longer. Or it doesn’t happen at all.

This is also why the grades slip and the behavior write-ups pile up. It’s not a motivation problem. It’s an access problem, and access problems don’t get fixed by increasing pressure.

The goal is never ‘try harder.’ It’s restore access.

You’ve probably already tried the planner. The chore chart. The checklists. Building executive function skills. Maybe even tutoring.

And for a week or two it worked. Then it didn’t.
that’s not your fault.

It’s not because you picked the wrong mechanism. It’s because no tool, strategy, or skill — however good — works on a nervous system that’s already maxed out. Planners, checklists, and executive function strategies all assume your kid has enough capacity all the time to actually use them. When they don’t, even the best tool falls apart.

This program doesn’t replace those tools. It’s what makes them finally work. Here’s the thing: your kid’s thinking brain isn’t always online. And when it’s not, no strategy is accessible. This program is how you get it back online, so whatever you try next actually has a shot.

Think of this program like the Wi-Fi password. Nothing connects without it, but once you have it, everything works.

Not your average parenting program
What’s Inside School Steadiness Blueprint

In six weeks, you’ll have a plan for the exact moments that currently blow up your day — mornings, homework, calls from school.

We’ll build it live, with support, so you’re not troubleshooting it alone at 7pm and feeling defeated. Each week you build one piece of the plan and start using it that same week. There’s no homework to finish someday, only changes you make now.

This is your blueprint for school success.

It’s designed for where you are, not where you feel you should be. This isn’t a new strategy, it’s a better foundation.

This isn’t about pushing harder. You’ve already tried that. We’ll replace the daily push spiral with a plan built around what your child’s nervous system can actually handle, so they’re learning at school instead of white-knuckling through it, and there’s something left for you both after 3:15. Their teacher gets cheat sheets too, so you’re not the only one holding this.

Hello!

I’m Penny.

School should not break our kids! I’ve spent over a decade helping families of neurodivergent kids reduce school-related stress and build steadiness.

It’s all about nervous system science and real life implementation, not theory. In fact, I’m so passionate about applying neuroscience in education that I’m working on a graduate certificate in Applied Educational Neuroscience right now.

Look, I’m not here to fix kids, push performance, or force compliance. That doesn’t work. Instead, I help parents make adjustments that make learning possible while protecting their child’s wellbeing. SSB exists because traditional approaches like more pressure, more strategies, and higher expectations often make things worse, not better.

Let’s change your kid’s school experience, together.

The right support changes everything

By week six, here’s what’s different.

When the school day becomes more supportive, a few things start to shift:

Fewer calls from school and crisis moments at home.

More participation without constant prodding

Progress doesn’t require shame, force, or a fight to get there.

Less after school fallout

There’s an ease to home life (instead of being wrecked by the school day).

Learning doesn’t have to be effortless, but it can be more steady… and far less costly to your kid’s and family’s wellness. And that’s what changes everything.

Is this Program right for you?
This program is for you if…
This program is NOT  for you if…

If you’ve tried ‘more pressure’ and it made things worse… you’re in the right place.

Know Exactly What to DO

The School Steadiness Curriculum

Six modules. Zero guesswork. A week-by-week plan for fewer days that fall apart before breakfast, fewer after-school shutdowns, and less Sunday night dread. Without force, shame, or sacrificing their wellbeing.

Session 1
Stop the escalation cycles.
We start by identifying what’s draining your child fastest.

Session 2

Uncover what’s driving the struggle.
Learning only happens when capacity is available.
Session 3
Increase availability to learn, intentionally.
Now you learn how to start building availability back, on purpose.
Session 4
Know when to challenge, when to pause, and when to pivot.

You move from reacting to leading.

Session 5
Reduce the fallout that follows your child home.

You’re better able to protect family life

Session 6
Turn insight into school support.

Now what you’ve learned turns into confident advocacy and something the school can actually use.

Questions you might be asking

Common questions parents ask about THe Program:

Will this help with grades?

Indirectly, yes. We don’t drill content or tutor skills. What we do is remove the nervous-system barriers that are keeping your child from learning and accessing what they already know. A dysregulated brain can’t do the work in front of it, no matter how many times you go over it at the kitchen table. When your child has enough safety and capacity to think clearly, they can actually show what they know. That usually shows up as fewer missing assignments, fewer behavior reports, and improved grades. I can’t promise a specific outcome (nobody honestly can).

Is this another behavior program?

No. This isn’t about controlling behavior or enforcing compliance. Behavior often improves, but as a result of focusing on the nervous system and changing the school experience, not managing symptoms.

Is this tutoring or executive function coaching?

No. Those supports can be helpful, but they rely on your child being able to access skills in the moment. School Steadiness Blueprint focuses on what makes those supports usable.

What if we homeschool?

This program still applies. SSB isn’t about classrooms or policies. It’s about how learning impacts your child’s nervous system, capacity, and willingness to engage. Whether learning happens at home, online, or in a school building, the same patterns show up when expectations exceed capacity. This program helps you create a learning experience that supports regulation, engagement, and growth no matter the setting.

Will this work if my child doesn't have big behavior issues?

Yes. Many children struggle quietly through shutdown, avoidance, or internal stress. This program supports learning and well-being whether challenges are loud or invisible.

What ages is this for?

Designed for parents of elementary, middle, and high school students. The tools adapt to your child’s developmental stage.

Do I need to involve the school?

You’ll learn how to communicate with school in ways that are clearer and less stressful, but this program starts with what you can control.

What if school is still hard in some ways?

School doesn’t have to be perfect to be workable. This program focuses on reducing harm, increasing capacity, and making learning more consistent, not eliminating every challenge.

What if I'm already exhausted?

That’s exactly who this is for. The program is designed to reduce effort over time, not add more.

What if my partner isn't fully on board?

You don’t need agreement on day one. Most partners come around once they see what changes at home.

Is there a guarantee?

Because this work involves real people, real schools, and real nervous systems, no program can guarantee specific outcomes. What is guaranteed is a clear framework, guided support, and practical tools you can use immediately. If after the first session you feel this isn’t the right fit, you won’t be stuck, your wellbeing matters too.

There’s a code to school working for your kid. Let’s crack it.

Fewer shutdown/ overwhelm days at school.

Progress that doesn't cost your child's mental health.

Know when to challenge or pull back.

School stops draining your child, and your whole family.

Fewer crash-and-burn days. Less after-school fallout.

Learning and wellbeing start to co-exist.

Support growth without shame, force, or constant pressure.
